Visit Thailand or Get Scared of Thailand

A week in Thailand, reading the news in Thailand, I see headlines like Thailand wants to attract tourists back to the Kingdom. Reading the news about Thailand, I read Thailand want no tourists to visit Thailand anymore.

For this I need to explain, we can read in Thai news sources that the Thai government plans to spent billions of Baht on tourist promotion, even touching the seemingly holy high tourist visa charges, Europeans, Americans and tourists from more upscale countries like USA, Swiss...etc.. can now apply for a tourist visa for free.

Also Thailand seems to spent millions if not billions in trying to cover up the fact that they where during a uprise a month or more ago on the state of anarchy . Tourists involved receive a official apology and where offered to come back to the land of smile, with some sort of incentive.

So lets look at the past week, and lets try to see what I mean with, Thailand want not tourist to visit Thailand. Our first headline is a British Tourist (Simon Burrowes), who was allowed to travel into Thailand. Traveling with valid British, European travel documents, which are maybe not seen common, but allowed by the UN agreement on travel documents. What was wrong with Mr. Brurrowes passport, his passport was displaying a person with his shoulders naked, something not allowed for Thai travel documents.

To Thai documents, Mr. Burrowes was approached as being a fake British citizen, talked down as being a African faking to be a British citizen. Mr. Burrowes got a bit upset, born in England and being nothing else as a English (European) citizen for all his live. He got rude after some more questions where asked.

And please people never ask the same questions about nationality to a Thai person, as if he is from Laos, and he is not part of the Kingdom of Thailand, or say anything bad in relation of Thai people in regard to the Thai Royal family. It is just if somebody tells England is not your country and the Queen of England is not your Queen, some people would get upset and start to be rude.... By all means you would expect Thai people to understand this...

Second, Mr. Burrowes almost takes all the news this week, we have a Swiss TV reporter and produce arriving in Thailand, and he get arrested directly at arrival. Why would you ask, first they do very mystical about the whole charge and after finally, the whole European news core was asking questions... we where told ….that Christoph Müller made in 2002 a TV documentary about a Swiss citizen who runs a Thai charity, with to European standards questionable reliability.....
