Deputy Chief of Koh Chang Sub-district has proposed to use Reverse Osmosis, a system used to extract fresh water from seawater, to control water shortage.Mr. Sakprasert Chareonprasit, Deputy Chief of Koh Chang Sub-district, revealed that Chang Island will face water shortage from January-May every year. Five-star hotels and resorts will not encounter water shortages as they have their own underground water pumps. However, small hotels and resorts have to buy fresh water.
A spokesperson from Siam Beach Resort on Lonely Beach Koh Chang informed us that the impact is limited, and guests will hardly be aware of it. We ask all our guests to spent water wisely, not use to much towels but that we do always for environmental reasons.
As for the long-term plan to prevent water shortage, reservoirs will be constructed on the island and RO system is expected to be installed.
