Farewell Reception for Thai Ambassador in Brunei

Outgoing Thai Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Phithak Phrombubpha yesterday bade farewell to friends and officials from various ministries and Diplomatic Corp during a farewell reception held at the residence of the Thai ambassador.Commencing his tenure on January 15, 2008, Phithak Phrombubpha will be leaving Brunei on October 1 as he retires at the age of 60.
The outgoing ambassador said, "This is my final and best posting. The people here are warm and friendly. I have made so many friends here. Brunei is the best country to be in. The hospitality is marvelous and the cost of living is just nice compared to western countries."
Speaking about Brunei-Thailand ties, he said, "Brunei Darussalam and. Thailand have enjoyed good relations for along time. There has been no problem between both countries. Brunei has always supported Thailand in the international arena.
"Brunei and Thailand are both Asean members and they stand united through the Asean Charter.
"Brunei's geographical location can help the country become the hub of Asean as a whole. There are also strong ties between the royal families of both countries. In fact, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has visited Thailand several times."
Senior government officials, foreign diplomats, UBD students and friends of the outgoing ambassador attended the reception to say their goodbyes.
Phithak Phrombubpha hopes to spend quality time with his family back home.
