Canadian Woman Wounded in Thailand

General NewsA Canadian woman wounded in Thailand says her life was saved by her Canadian friend who was shot to death in front of her.

A Thai police officer has been charged with premeditated murder in the shooting death of John Leo Del Pinto and the wounding of Carly Reisig.

Ms. Reisig spoke Monday in an exclusive interview to The international press from her hospital bed in northern Thailand. She says she was struck by a bullet that came within 2.5 centimeters of her heart.

She said she was near death Sunday night. Ms. Reisig, 24, of Chilliwack, B.C., denied an earlier report that she was pregnant.

She also denied a report that she and Mr. Del Pinto had been in a fight near the restaurant in Pai, Thailand, where the shooting took place.

She says she was talking to Mr. Del Pinto when a man punched her in the forehead. She said Mr. Del Pinto defended her and the man pulled a gun.

She said Mr. Del Pinto, 24, was shot in the face and the stomach and that then she was shot.

Boycott the Duang Guesthouse.
Last time my group stayed at the Duang Guesthouse. The owner there is in support of the Pai police and the guesthouse is full of rude signs to control the guests' behavior and it is always full of police.

The owner of the Duang guesthouse supports the police shooting of the Canadian couple and claims they deserved it as they were in an argument and would not be quiet. The surviving woman denies that there even was any argument. In any event should an argument with a boyfriend call for being shot in the mouth and chest? The Dunag guesthouse owner also is a personal friend of "officer" Udai and supports him being let out on bail by the corrupt Pai "police".

The Duang guesthouse harassed my friends and I while we were there waiting for a bus. We "looked" suspicious. So the Duang Guesthouse had the "police" take our passports and find out which guesthouses our friends were staying. Telling the truth, that some of our group were at another guesthouse, the Pai "police" then went to our friends guesthouse at 6 am, woke them up and hararrased them as well, ultimately for nothing but just to show that the Pai "police" who loiter every day with the owner of the Duang guesthouse can do whatever they like.
Boycott the corrupt Pai "Police" and Boycott the corrupt Duang Guesthouse!
