BMTA prepares additional buses for school term

The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) has prepared more than 675 additional buses specifically to handle the expected traffic volume when school term opens. Mr. Opas Pechmanee, acting managing-director of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), revealed that the company has prepared more bus routes and buses, as well as phasing in privately operated buses, for a total of more than 675 routes, in order to handle the expected high volume of traffic that is sure to occur when school term begins
The Vipawadee, Ram-Intra, Pechkasem, and Chaeng Wattana areas are especially being focused on.
Mr. Opas added that the BMTA has also been lining up its bus stops to link with other public transportation mediums such as the skytrain, and boat service.
Also the minister of transport expects the selection process for the BMTA's new managing director to be completed by the end of May.
General Chainan Charoensiri, Deputy Minister of transport, revealed that good progress was being made in the management selection process for the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority's new managing director. Mr. Wanchai Jaisin, the head of the selection committee has recently resigned, to show responsibility for the initial delay in the process. General Chainan expects that the selection process will be completed no later than the end of May.
